Colour is the raison d'etre for Anne-Marie Jones in the world of Art.
Anne-Marie has been painting since 1999 when she became, and remains, a
member of the Noosa
Shire Arts & Crafts Association (Wallace House).
Anne-Marie's internal world is all colour. She views everything
in pictorial format and she is able to bring this to her canvases in her own style.
Her birthplace, the Seychelles Islands dictates Anne-Marie's need to frequently
paint seascapes. Together with her life drawing skills, she has been able to marry
the two into the Noosa-Scapes that she paints regularly. There she captures the
iconic characters, activities and landscapes of Noosa and the Sunshine Coast
where she lives. In 2008, Anne-Marie held two solo exhibitions at "Madisson's"
the popular Noosa restaurant. Otherwise, Anne-Marie is moved to paint scenes
that evoke a poignant memory or emotion.
Anne-Marie is self-taught although private lessons with artist Bill McKay have instilled
the need for discipline, the understanding of colour and form as well as composition in the
completion of a piece of work.
In recent times, Anne-Marie has been experimenting
with mixed media and expressionist/abstract work. She recently worked
with Metka Skrobar, Sarah Larsen and Jenni Kelly who have inspired her to think outside
of the paint tube. Anne-Marie paints in both oil and acrylic mediums
and the wide variety of her subject matter demonstrates her versatility.
