Anne-Marie Jones has been painting since 1999 when she became a
member of the Noosa Shire Arts & Crafts Association (Wallace House).
Through the Association, she participated in workshops by Lyn Fraser-Roberts,
Bill McKay and countless other well-credentialed artists.
Later, she took private lessons with Bill McKay. It is he and Lyn who
have had the most influence on Anne-Marie’s painting style that tends to be realist.
Together, they instilled the need for discipline, the understanding of
colour and form as well as composition in the completion of a piece of work.
Anne-Marie likes to paint what appeals to her and rejects the notion of
painting for a particular market. She is moved to paint scenes that evoke
a poignant memory or emotion; her birthplace, the Seychelles Islands
dictates her need to frequently paint seascapes and she is equally adept
at figurative paintings. In recent times, Anne-Marie has been experimenting
with mixed media and expressionist/abstract work. She recently worked
with Metka Skrobar who is inspiring her to think outside of the paint tube.
Anne-Marie paints in both oil and acrylic mediums
and her subject matter demonstrates her versatility.
